Field Clean Up

Spring and fall flying field clean up.

2025 Spring Field Cleanup

Event Date

The Stetson Flyers Club airfield cleanup day was held May 9-10. Twenty-seven members volunteered to help maintain the airfield, make repairs and to make it safe and enjoyable for another flying season.

The rolling of all grass surfaces started on Friday afternoon and continued until 11:30 am on Saturday. In total the runway was rolled four times. The exchange of the seasonal shelter from winter to spring is a welcome change as it signifies good weather, special events and BBQ’s!  The most labour-intensive part of the clean up was filling in potholes along the laneway along with scraping of loose paint, repainting curbs and touch-up other surfaces including flight benches, picnic tables, flight line and spectator fences.  In all two full gallons of brown paint were used within a few hours.  The painting brightens the facility and helps the curbs be more visible, avoiding the tripping hazards.  The windsock, the Canadian flag and the parking lot warning markers were all replaced.

2025 Fall Field Cleanup

Our fall cleanup will take place on this date.  We need some helpers with the following items please:

Secure anchors of large shelter
Remove T post by 1st flight bench on east side, level flight benches.
Remove damaged lock latches from trailer.
Minor tree trimming along laneway.
Remove summer shelter and install winter shelter
Add gravel to low spots
Clean BBQ’s
We will need one or two wheelbarrows and some shovels and rakes. Please bring rubber boots and work gloves.  The fall clean-up is fairly light work, so please come out and help, and get some flying in as soon as soon as it is finished!

Please respond to contact@stetsonflyers.com.
Thanks, Michael Lalonde

Stetson Flyers Fall Cleanup

Its hard to believe that we are approaching the end of another summer of fabulous flying.  The Fall clean up signals the change in weather and on Monday October 7, a small but mighty crew came to help. The objective was to clean up after the summer, prepare the facility for the winter and to support the (brave) winter flyers!

This is the work that was accomplished:
